This week is the U.S. Women’s Open week. This is good news for LPGA fans. However, this means that LPGA golfers are under more stress than usual. World’s best golfers will compete in order to win this amazing event. The U.S. Women’s Open is conducted by the USGA. It is one of the golfs’ crown jewels. This also means that golfers will do everything they can in order to move on the Leaderboard.
Michelle Wie won the event last year at the Pinehurst. This year, she will try to defend her title. Her goal is to become the second golfer who won the event two times (repeat winner) after Karrie Webb. This Hall of Famer won the event in 2000 and 2001. Wie’s victory broke the Republic of Korean string of three consecutive wins. Also, Korean golfers won 5 out of 7 last U.S. Women’s Opens.
Inbee Park, one of the best golfers in the world, right now, won it two times. She managed this in 2008 and 2013. It is expected that Inbee Park will try hard to win this event for the third time. She also won the recent major at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Lydia Ko, former world No. 1 is still trying to win her first major championship in the season. Maybe she will win it this week. Stacy Lewis, a two-time Rolex Player of the Year has a top-notch season, again. Na Yeon Choi and Sei Young Kim, golfers who won 2015 tournaments, two times, would like to increase the score for Republic of Korea. We will have to watch and see what happens next.
